Part 2 – Transportation … How do I get there and get around?

Q. How do I get there?
A. By Sea or Air.

The connection by Sea is provided by the only public ferry service operating in the islands.  The travel time between the Harbors is usually between 45-50 minutes. Expeditions Ferry serves Lāna‘i with five daily roundtrips between the Lahaina Small Boat Harbor and the Manele Small Boat Harbor.

Lahaina Departures:

Departs from Maui to Lanai at:
6:45am  9:15am  12:45pm  3:15pm  5:45pm

Lāna‘i Departures:

Departs from Lanai to Maui at:
8:00am  10:30am  2:00pm  4:30pm  6:45pm

Directions to Lahaina Harbor

TICKETS COST – Tourist price of $60 Adult Roundtrip/$40 Child (age 2-11).  Discounted Kama‘aina tickets are only available directly from Expeditions at go-lanai.com.

PICKING UP tickets from the Expeditions Lahaina Ticket Booth is done like “will call”.  Note: After you receive your receipt you will receive a second email from us with your confirmations.

EXPEDITIONS CHECK IN – Expeditions asks guests to check in at their Lahaina Harbor Ticket Booth about 30 min prior to departure.  Give the attendant your name and show them your ID and they will give you your roundtrip tickets. If they ask for a paper voucher let them know that Brad with Lost on Lāna‘i has already e-mailed the office a copy. If you have any questions when you check in please call me on the cell number included with your confirmation email.

By Air

The connection by Air is served by ‘Ohana by Hawaiian Airlines (operated by Empire Air).  ‘Ohana flies ATR-42-500 aircraft configured with 48 seats.  For the latest schedules please see Hawaiian Airlines website.  Their schedule does allow for day trips.

Getting Around

Transportation options on Lāna‘i are limited.  There is one Shuttle Van Service, Rabaca’s Limousine Service.  Pick up and departures are timed to coincide with the ferry arrival/departure times.  Rabaca’s Limousine Service (808-559-0230) operates a van pick up service from the Harbor to town and will also perform pick ups on an on call basis.  Four Seasons Resorts offers pre-arranged transfers only to guests.

The one way per person a la carte cost of a transfer on Rabaca is $10 (cash only) per person paid to driver.  The cost for additional Lost on Lāna‘i’s transfer vouchers (credit card prepaid & reserved) as part of our packages is $12.

Transfers from Lāna‘i City for the 2:00pm Ferry is at 1:00pm, 4:30pm Ferry at 3:30pm and the 6:45pm ferry transfer is at 6:00pm.

There is one Taxi on the island that operates on an arranged basis.  Call Alberta de Jetley:  808-649-0808.

Rental Cars – With the closure of Dollar Rental effective November 1, 2018 there will not be a “brand” rental company on island.  Lost on Lāna‘i is currently exploring alternatives and will be updating this post.
