Lāna’i’s First Dog Park Set to Open April 29
Lāna’i City will soon welcome its first-ever dedicated public space for dogs. The Fraser Avenue Lāna’i Dog Park is scheduled to open with a blessing and grand opening ceremony at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2025.
The Maui County Department of Parks and Recreation has completed the project significantly ahead of schedule, with the park originally slated for completion in September 2025. Fraser Avenue Park was temporarily closed in February of this year to accommodate construction of the new dog park.
Maui County Department of Parks and Recreation Director Patrick McCall and County Councilmember Gabe Johnson, who holds the Lānaʻi residency seat, will serve as key speakers at the ceremony.
The new facility offers numerous amenities designed with both pets and their owners in mind. Features include separate fenced play zones for small and large dogs, allowing for safer socialization based on size. Four parking stalls have been added, with two designated for Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) access. The park also boasts ADA-compliant sidewalks and a water fountain to keep furry visitors hydrated.
Kitsap Construction LLC served as the contractor for the project, which aims to provide Lāna’i residents and their four-legged companions with a secure, accessible space for off-leash play and recreation.
The dog park is located on Fraser Avenue near Caldwell Avenue in Lāna’i City. Community members are invited to attend the blessing and grand opening celebration.
