The Maui Butterfly Farm is a butterfly conservatory owned by Siobhan and Geoffrey Wilson that opened in October 2020 on former sugarcane plantation land. Their 45-minute guided tour through an enclosed butterfly tents provides a close-up experience with native Hawaiian and Monarch butterflies and their life cycle, including caterpillars and chrysalises. The farm aims to educate visitors about protecting the rapidly declining global butterfly population through habitat restoration and breeding programs. The Maui Gold Pineapple Farm in upcountry Makawao is the last working pineapple operation on Maui. Their 1.5 hour tour teaches the history and cultivation of pineapples in Hawaii, including the 18-month growing cycle from planting to harvest. The interactive, immersive experience includes stops in the fields at different growth stages and a visit to the processing warehouse. Guests receive a free souvenir pineapple to take home. Tours are offered daily at 9:30am, 11:45am, and 1:45pm for guests ages 3+ and cost $38 per ticket. The location is not ADA accessible.
