About Blue Ginger Cafe
The Blue Ginger Café is a family friendly café & diner located in the heart of Lanai City, serving authentic local cuisine with Aloha. Founded in 1991 by Georgia Keenan-Abilay and her husband Joseph Abilay. The restaurant has been a staple in the community for over 34 years. The day-to-day operations are now managed by their son Phoenix Dupree, who continues to uphold the family’s original vision. Blue Ginger strives to be open every day of the year, including holidays, and prides itself on homestyle cooking, fresh-baked bread and pastries.
What distinguishes Blue Ginger is their commitment to making everything from scratch using fresh ingredients. The menu features local favorites like loco-moco, hamburger steak, chicken katsu, and saimin, along with healthy options such as mahi mahi and stir-fry. As both a bakery and restaurant, they bake tasty bread daily, craft their own hamburger buns, and create sweet treats including tasty apple and blueberry turnovers. Phoenix Dupree ensures the restaurant maintains its high standards, often helping during meal rushes and taking time to personally greet guests. Whether you’re dining in or ordering to go, each meal is served with the personal touch that has kept locals and visitors returning for decades.

What Guests Are Saying
Lunch Spot
“Great little spot in Lanai. Food was delicious and the staff was very friendly. We had the pork adobo and the fried noodles, both were excellent. Prices were reasonable for Hawaii. Would definitely recommend!”

Breakfast
“Don’t let the unassuming exterior fool you – this place serves up some seriously good food. We had breakfast here and the pancakes were fluffy and the Portuguese sausage was tasty. The coffee was also excellent.”
